Artist Reception:
Saturday June 3rd, 3-5 pm
Smith & Vallee Gallery is proud to present the works of two exceptional artists, Sylvia Gonzalez and Dan Friday, this month. Daniel Joseph Friday, a Native of the Lummi Nation, has spent the past two decades working with some of the most renowned artists in the world. His work is contemporary yet rooted in Native American traditions, and his glass sculptures are found in collections around the world. Friday's work is a celebration of cultural themes and modern processes, making it a unique and captivating experience for viewers.
Sylvia Gonzalez, on the other hand, draws inspiration from her childhood and family. Her work is a reflection of her love for nature and wildlife, which is evident in her monotype prints. Gonzalez's use of color and layering techniques creates a rich depth of abstract forms that emerge through every layer. Her drawings of birds and animals, done from observation and sketches, add a focus to her love of nature and wildlife.
Together, the works of Gonzalez and Friday offer a unique and captivating experience for viewers. Their art is a celebration of cultural traditions and a reflection of their personal experiences. We invite you to come and experience their works firsthand at Smith & Vallee Gallery.
