Jen Chambers
Artist Bio
Jen Chambers was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and spent her summers in the San Juan Islands with her family. She was greatly influenced by the beauty of these experiences and they carry over through her art to this day. She has always been drawn to interior design and therefor obtained her degree in the field where she worked in residential design for almost a decade. After taking some time off work while having her first child she discovered her love of painting and has never looked back. Through this process, Jen realized she could still be very much involved with the interior of a home by enhancing the space and conveying her perspective through her art. By blending her professional eye for interior design with her artistic lens, it has proved to be a greatly beneficial combination for her clients.
She paints with the intention of bringing serenity and joy into people’s lives through her art. She is constantly viewing the world through her own artistic perspective and is greatly inspired by textures that are found in the natural landscape. She draws from her interpretation of nature and strives to interlace movement with stillness through both common and abstract forms.
Jen works with acrylic mixed medias as well as encaustics. Her style, although generally highly textural with organic, fluid movements, ranges greatly, allowing her freedom in artistic experimentation, resulting in constant evolution. Jen is married with 3 children and continues to explore the San Juan’s with them every summer.
Artist Statement:
The goal of my artwork is to create serenity. I paint because it feeds my soul and free’s my mind. I’m filled with overwhelming gratitude and joy when I’m painting, and my hope is that these feelings are transferred to my art and subsequently the viewer. It’s a dream to create something that brings happiness and beauty into people’s lives and I’m honored and humbled that I continuously have been afforded the opportunity to do so. Although I have many different abstract styles of art, and utilize both mixed media and encaustic mediums, there remains an underlying theme inspired by nature that strives to fuse movement with serenity. My artwork is organic in its fluid undulating movements, is highly textural, and generally composed of a subdued calming color pallet.
