We are thrilled to present the remarkable artworks of Lisa McShane and Brian O'Neill. Through their unique artistic visions, both artists invite viewers to experience the profound beauty of the world around us.
In her artist statement, Lisa McShane eloquently expresses her deep love for art that moves the soul and evokes tears. Her dedication to capturing the deep beauty she sees and experiences in her surroundings is evident in her oil paintings. Beginning with drawings based on personal memories, Lisa beautifully translates these moments where light stirred her emotions onto toned linen. Using layers of umber and carefully added skies, her artworks create a sense of luminosity and depth. Skies, clouds, water, and reflections play an instrumental role in her creations, capturing the essence of her deeply cherished landscapes.
Brian O'Neill's pieces, on the other hand, have a distinct modern profile while also embracing the primitive textures of their surfaces. His artwork often takes the form of vessels, each possessing an anthropomorphic relationship between its visible form and the concealed space within. As the pieces evolve, they develop unique personalities, mirroring the growth and evolution we ourselves experience. Brian's inspiration stems from a blend of Wabi-sabi and Mid-century modern influences, resulting in his self-coined artistic style "Modern Primitive". His works reflect Japanese Mingei philosophies merged with contemporary art and design principles. The relationship between shape, form, color, and volume, inspired by various design disciplines, guides his creative process alongside the inherent beauty of the natural world.
