Material + Movement • Heather Kraft
Material+Movement draws inspiration from a humble broken dish, transforming it into exquisite, one-of-a-kind necklaces. With over a decade of experience as a glass artist, Heather Kraft skillfully repurposes shattered heirloom china into stylish wearable designs.
Many hold on to forgotten china in attics or drawers, unsure of what to do with broken shards. Heather's mission is to breathe new life into these discarded objects, offering a fresh perspective on outdated and broken items.
Using the plate's composition, Heather hand-cuts, thins, and carves elements into simple shapes, eliminating the need for metal borders. The ceramic itself is polished on all sides, and compositions are crafted with attention to both individual elements and surface imagery. The jewelry is elegantly finished with gold fill and sterling silver findings.
