Lolly Shera is a contemporary landscape painter from the Pacific Northwest region of Washington State. She creates luminous, atmospheric paintings in oil on panel using thin, transparent glazes. Inspired by the late 19th c. American Tonalism movement, Ms. Shera uses field sketches, and her memory of nature, to create works that represent a living emotion. A native of Washington state, Lolly spent her childhood in the beautiful Northwest, exploring the outdoors with her family, hiking and skiing in the mountains, and boating on the Salish Sea. These formative experiences helped her find her true purpose as a landscape painter.
Having received formal training in figurative, still-life and landscape painting, Lolly has been fortunate to study with some of the country’s leading contemporary artists, including: Robert Liberace, David Leffel and Scott Christensen. She studied at Gage Academy of Art and completed a three-year Classical Drawing and Painting program at Georgetown Atelier. In addition, Ms. Shera completed the Landscape Atelier program in Clarksville, Texas.
Lolly is an artist member of the Salmagundi Club of New York City and her work may be found in private collections throughout the United States. She has received several awards, including “Best of Show†at the Clymer Museum, as well as, a scholarship from the Puget Sound Group of Northwest Artists. Lolly’s works are published in the best-selling technique book, Essential Techniques of Landscape Drawing by Suzanne Brooker (Watson-Guptill), and in “The History of the Deschutes Clubâ€. Ms. Shera’s work is represented by some of the Northwest’s finest galleries.
Lolly lives with her husband, Peter, in Washington State, and they have two young adult children.
